ISO is the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and is the world’s largest developer of almost 20,000 voluntary international standards. Made up of 165 member countries, ISO is independent, non-government membership organization and is headquartered in Geneva Switzerland.

Most government entities and major industry specifiers require ISO accreditation and certification, particularly ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020. ISO does not perform the audits because that is done by the accreditation bodies. The accreditation bodies perform the audits using the checklists they make from these standards. ISO 17025 is more specifically referred to as ISO/IEC 17025 and is part of the ISO CASCO suite of standards. These standards focus on conformity assessment.

Currently ISO/IEC 17025 is undergoing a rewrite. The latest addition of the standard is 2005. We will update our manual when this is officially released but this is not expected until 2017. ISO Manual Templates will provide a quality manual update for this standard so register to receive pricing for this update when the time is ready.
